SERIP of Portugal recently had their Bijout chandelier selected by Interior Design Magazine as one of the Best in Show at ICFF, NY. Congrats! The manufacturer boasts 50 years of experience, drawing inspiration from organic designs and translating that inspiration into fine art lighting fixtures.

The two-week Los Angeles Design Festival is ongoing in LA; there will be panel discussions, tours and parties at the third annual festival, which explores everything from decor to home tours to Peter Zumthor’s new take on LACMA.

Most of the events take place downtown, including Dwell on Design at the Los Angeles Convention Center’s South Hall; DOD is the largest design event in America.

In a statement, LADF co-founder Michael Sylvester said: “LADF is a young festival that is only just beginning to scratch the surface, so to speak. It’s a reflection of the rich diversity of creative talent in this city and we can’t wait to see how it will continue to grow.”

A sampling of the Los Angeles Design Festival’s events can be found below:

Modern Skyline Walking Tour, June 15-29 at Pershing Square: Organized by the L.A. Conservancy, this tour winds through Bunker Hill’s plazas and skyscrapers as guides share stories of the area’s transformation.

Big City Forum’s “Independent Publishing and Print Culture in the Public Sphere,” June 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Standard hotel: This panel features artists, educators and musicians and is moderated by LACMA’s Head of Publications. The two-hour discussion will explore issues related to independent publishing in L.A. and address questions such as: “What are the collisions and intersections between visual language, print culture, and the social sphere?”

Dwell on Design, June 21-23 at the L.A. Convention Center: This three-day design conference is “America’s largest modern design event” and includes 400 exhibitors with 30,000 people expected to attend. It includes special installations such as “Dwell Outdoor” and the “Tech Zone.”

Downtown and Eastside home tour, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: This tour of Eastside homes is “self-drive,” meaning you control the pace when visiting five different houses and lofts. The meandering tour goes from La Canada Flintridge to Silver Lake, to Downtown’s own Patterson Residence & Colorola Studios. Tickets are $85 to $95 dollars and include a two-day pass to the Dwell on Design convention.

Haute Design Network member Vanessa DeLeon, a celebrity designer and Principal of Vanessa DeLeon Associates (VDA), just launched a new venture called VDA Virtual Design. The initiative offers design services and solutions to the online marketplace via a stunning digital package that will help to create beautifully customized interiors. DeLeon celebrated her success with a launch party in Manhattan last night!

DeLeon has been featured on shows like HGTV’s Design Star and Food Network’s Restaurant impossible, among others, and works every day to make high fashion design concepts an achievable goal for all clients via the internet. VDA will allow users to work with a design team, customize their space and create a beautifully curated environment.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island opened the first undersea restaurant, Ithaa, in the Indian Ocean over five years ago, and since then it’s popularity has grown exponentially. Resting 16 feet below sea level, the restaurant boasts a transparent acrylic ceiling for visitors to view the vibrant surrounding coral reef. The restaurant offers a 270° view and was designed and constructed by M.J. Murphy Ltd., based in New Zealand.

To celebrate Ithaa’s anniversary, it is transformed into a hotel bedroom for two lucky luxury guests to enjoy. Yes, it’s expensive…but well worth it!

We’re down to the final four! Haute Time Madness, the voter-driven contest where the top timepieces in haute horlogerie compete against each other to determine the hautest watch of 2013, is on to the Semi-Finals. Voters have until tomorrow, June 12, to determine the final two watches that will face off to win Timepiece Madness! The Finals will take place June 15-19.

In each bracket, two watches face off, and the watch with the most votes moves on to the next round. From 64 watches down to only four, the competition is getting serious! The pieces that are facing off during the Semi-Finals of the tournament-style Time Madness competition are:
